The 15th annual Daigahara-juku Antique Market will be held in Hakushu from Friday 20th until Sunday the 22nd of October. Daigahara-juku is more than 400 years old and has been listed as one of the 100 old routes of Japan. There will be handicraft and local produce stalls as well as a number of antique stalls. It will start at 10 o’clock in the morning each day and will go on until 4:30 on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday the market will be closed at 4 in the afternoon. On Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of October, at the Moegino Mura in Kiyosato, the annual Watashi-no Country Festa will be held. A number of "country style" knick-knack shops from all over Japan will be coming to the fair. Also, there will be workshops and booths with local produce and crafts, and food by local restaurants. Outside the Festa area there will be a few antique markets as well. Inquiries to the Festa office on 0551-48-2907.
On Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of October at the Campica Akeno Fureai-no-Sato the Yamanashi Acorn Bank is planning an event to collect acorns. On the first day, starting at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, they will be collecting and sorting the acorns, and there will be a talk about their program which includes collecting, growing and planting the acorn seedlings back in the woods. On the second day they will start with an early morning walk at 6:30 and then, after breakfast, there will be a handicraft workshop using the acorns which will finish at 11:30. Advanced booking is required. If you wish, you can just join the first day. The events are free of charge to attend. Accommodation can be arranged at the venue. On Tuesday the 24th of October the Hinatabokko, a support group for children who have difficulty with schooling, will be having their fund raising bazaar at the Himawari Ichiba supermarket car parking area in Oizumi. It will start at 10 o'clock and finish at 4. Inquiries to Nishioka-san on 090-4024-2955.
